Welcome to Anchorage!

With nearly three hundred thousand residents, Anchorage, Alaska, is the state's largest city and home to forty-one percent of the state's population. Anchorage is roughly the size of Delaware, with just under two thousand square miles that stretch from Eklutna to Portage Glacier. The community's two defining characteristics, wild and urban, might be considered opposites in other parts of the world, but here they exist side-by-side. In Anchorage, you can find the sun out at midnight, reindeer on Main Street, fish in urban salmon streams, and moose in backyards. Speaking of wildlife, the area is also home to Dall sheep, beavers, bears, bald eagles, an estimated fifteen hundred moose, and an occasional lynx.

In Anchorage, Ship Creek, one of the globe's only urban salmon fisheries, attracts anglers all summer to catch silver and King salmon. The largest passenger depot of the Alaska Railroad is only a block away from Ship Creek and continues to be the hub of train travel. Tours by helicopter and plane offer access to destinations beyond the reach of rail or road. In fact, on good days, there are more than six hundred takeoffs and landings from the thriving seaplane base at Lake Hood. The view from the sky says a lot about the city below. Anchorage is lush and green, with substantial natural spaces such as Kincaid Park and Far North Bicentennial Park and paths alongside Campbell and Chester creeks. Further contributing to the city's beauty and appeal, to the east of Anchorage is the Chugach Mountains, and to the west is the edge of the Cook Inlet.

In addition to being a place of abundant natural beauty with excellent opportunities for recreation and leisure, Anchorage is also the state's cultural soul. Anchorage is home to more of Alaska's musicians and artists than any other community. It boasts public art, galleries, the state's largest museum, the opera and symphony, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center. You'll also find diverse dining options in Anchorage, including German, Polynesian, Himalayan, Thai, and seafood. All these exceptional amenities contribute to the continued popularity of Anchorage real estate. Real estate in Anchorage includes a wide variety of attached and detached residences. There are condos, townhomes, single family homes, sprawling estates in Anchorage, and vacant land upon which to build. Homes for sale in Anchorage include older properties in well-established neighborhoods and new construction in recent developments. As a result of the extraordinary diversity of properties in Anchorage, listing prices fall across an exceptionally broad range.
